Lavender Garden

The main goal of the project is to create a cross-border infrastructure where young people can actively participate in extracurricular programs that promote environmental and nature conservation awareness.

Within the framework of the project, a Community Space and Knowledge Center (Lavender Recreation HUB) will be established in Békéscsaba, on the Hungarian side of the project area, where environmental awareness programs (Eco-Clubs, Summer Eco-Camps, and a festival) will take place.

Main activities

Establishment of a Cross-Border Community Space and Knowledge Center

The Zöld 14 Association, in partnership with the Excelsior Association based in Arad, implemented a cross-border, complex European Union project (including equipment procurement, infrastructure development, and event organization) aimed at nature and environmental protection between December 1, 2018, and February 28, 2020.

The main result of the project is the establishment of an infrastructure that simultaneously provides extracurricular recreation and environmental education opportunities for the region’s youth — the Csaba Lavender Garden, a community space and knowledge center. Through this development, the organization extended its previous activities into an outdoor environment. The location not only serves as a venue for supervised leisure activities but also provides space for community gatherings. In the community space, young people can connect through social and physical activities, thereby strengthening cross-border partnerships and community development. Recreational and sporting activities (such as football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and other outdoor games) help to enrich young people’s shared community experiences. In addition to active recreation, the space also offers other leisure opportunities, including arts, music, and dance.

Eco-camp

In the Eco-Camps, alongside recreation, interactive and practice-oriented activities with an ecological focus are organized.

Eco-Club

The Eco-Clubs are regular community events where young people explore issues related to environmental and nature protection.

Eco-Fest

A small lavender garden has been established within the community space. The Handicraft and Eco Festival promotes local products and art.

Wine and Cheese Tastings

We seek harmony between these two artisanal products by organizing seasonal — mainly summer — events for groups, including wine and cheese tastings and other programs.

Twice a year we invite visitors to pick lavender flowers for their own personal use. Next event: June 20, 2020, 4:00–8:00 p.m.

We take care of everything so you only need to hand out the invitations.

Garden Cinema

We bring back the atmosphere of the old days with movie nights held among the lavender fields under the open sky. A truly magical experience we love to share with children as well.

A day of outdoor fun using all the garden’s play equipment: a giant trampoline, various skill-developing games, darts, foosball, climbing wall, balance boards, giant soap bubbles, ping-pong, hula hoops, and a children’s playground. It’s the perfect place for school groups to play and explore.

Families and groups of friends can enjoy quality leisure time using the playground and relaxation areas. The garden is open to visitors free of charge. For private events, please contact us for details about rental options.
